Some very interesting times!

So we have huge riots in Iran that could, and hopefully will, topple Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s regime. It seema it could develop into another Tiananmen Square. On top of that and closer to home, we have a seemingly genuine case of police brutality in Nottingham. And by genuine, I mean genuine. Not the lame-arse cry of some criminal thug when being arrested by police. Back on the other side of the world, North Korea possibly starting a new theatre of war. Exciting stuff!

Holy craptacular!

Well it’s June already and nearly almost halfway through the month, and therefor, nearly halfway through the year. It never fails to amaze me how, as you get older, time goes by more and more quickly. It certainly doesn’t seem 6 months ago that I went to Russia, let alone Berlin a month later and Vietnam most recently. Amazing!

The lessons and the failures

Desiderata is an inspiring, if not a slightly depressing read. There’s one particular line, where in my most recent foray into the world of love, I can’t help but feel I failed upon; “Speak your truth quietly and clearly”.

Now this girl who was most recently mine is the kind of person who is incredibly inconsiderate and completely unaware of the feelings of those around her. The reason I feel I’ve failed upon the most crucial of crucials in relationships, communication, is that I don’t think I was able to truly tell her how I felt. Perhaps it’s with hindsight but it seems that if I was better able to tell her how she made me feel she would see what she was doing to me and would stop.

But having said that, she wasn’t able to, didn’t want to or simply couldn’t. And so with a sad and heavy heart, I let her go.

Singledom is here again.

Ummm…

Seriously! What the fuck?

Some people are so fucking retarded and/or selfish that it boggles the mind. On top of that, when they’re so stubborn that they can’t even see how fucking fucked they are, it boils the blood! I hate people like this.

Lesson learned! God!

It’s good in travel

It’s good working in the travel business. My latest dealings have netted me a fare to the Mid East for £1 return with Emirates. It’s just a matter of getting some time off work and organising some slacker mates…

Another bargain holiday here I come!

Don’t be yourself. Just don’t give a fuck..

Written on 18th May, 2009 | Filed under: Daily Life | (0) Comments

I’ve never really liked that old piece of advice ‘just be yourself’. I think it is vague and just a little mis-leading.

By being yourself, you’re no doubt doing the same thing that has been the thing that is hindering you from acheiving whatever it is that you’re trying to acheive… follow? Basically what I’m getting at is that by saying ‘just be yourself’, you’re not getting to the root of the problem. You’ll need a fresh perspective on things to do that. In other words, don’t simply ‘be yourself’ if being yourself isn’t, hasn’t or won’t work for you.

My belief is that you shouldn’t really care what others think anyway. By being myself, I’ve learned that I don’t give a fuck what others think. And that is my new piece of advice for anyone who cares to heed it. What I mean to say is that by not giving a fuck what others might think or say or believe, I’m able to ‘be myself’ by not caring or concerning myself with someone elses thoughts or deeds.

Rock on!

A nice long weekend

Written on 4th May, 2009 | Filed under: Daily Life | (0) Comments

What a weekend. It all started Friday night with a few drinks with friends, my cousin, a sexy French girl and some random, overly attentive and bothersome Asian girls.

Saturday started with a BBQ at a mates place, a few birthday drinks in Wandsworth and then on to a night of fun including trying to contain the activities of a drunken mate, a pub fight, an argument with a sexy French girl and then a night of debate amongst friends.

Sunday was a lazy uneventful day consisting of making up with a sexy French girl, watching movies, playing on my Playstation 3 and thinking of attempting some design work.

Monday was spent sleeping in till 11am, playing Playstation 3, watching movies and now I’m sitting in a pub waiting for a sexy French girl to arrive.

Tomorrow is back to work and the start of the lead up to another BBQ filled weekend. Good times.

Web site under development

Just an update regarding the The Brisbane Line, this weekend I’ll be spending some time working on the site fixing a few browser issues and working on bringing the old pages in line with the new design.

That is if the weather is rubbish…

Sitting at the pub

I’m just sitting here at the Goldhawk almost in the sun waiting for my cousin and his wife to arrive from Aus.

It’s a relatively warm and sunny day and I’ve just been out and about getting a few things done. I’ve finally unpacked and put away the final bits and pieces from my move.

My friends are being lame so we’ll see whether or not they come out today.

Anzac Day is here again

Written on 23rd April, 2009 | Filed under: Daily Life | (0) Comments

This Saturday is Anzac Day and a mate from work and I are off to the Australian War Memorial at Hyde Park Corner for the dawn service. Then onward to the Slug for a couple of bevies and a live game of AFL before heading to a park with the footy for a good old kick and pass around. Maybe there’ll be room for a bit of two-up.

Also on Saturday my cousin from Aus and his wife are coming over to stay for a bit before heading off to Europe for a stint of travelling fun. Good times.

Oh… and apparently it’s St George’s Day today. You wouldn’t know it.
