Have you ever fallen asleep on the tube and been woken by the tube driver at the end of line? I managed to do just that last night.

Coming home from a work night out, I caught the District Line from Wimbledon but on the way fell asleep and was nudged awake by the driver at High Street Kensington. In my ‘I’ve too many beers‘ state I decided I’d just get on the train on the other platform regardless. I didn’t look where it was heading or if it was even still running. It was 1am after all but I figured as the doors were open it was. Luckily it was headed west and towards Hammersmith. I’ve vague memories of walking home after that and eating Maltesers in bed before crashing out!

It could have been so much worse had the train gone east…

As of the 13th December the Circle Line or the Milk Bottle Line as I call it, will no longer be a ‘circle’ and in fact will veer off at Edgeware Road towards Hammersmith. The idea being that the line will begin in Hammersmith and go all the way around the ‘circle’ and back in on itself to Edgeware Road where it will terminate. I’m assuming that this will run in conjunction with the current Hammersmith and City Line trains as it’ll being using that stretch of track.

So I guess from then I’ll no longer be able to call it the Milk Bottle Line. I’ll have to find something else to rename…

I’ve just had a couple of beers with a mate who after 6 years is going home. I went with him to Acton Town station to see him off and he’s now on his way to bigger and better things as I write. It’s a sad day.

It again raises the question, what am I doing here? Or more realistically, how long will I be here? I’m single, I have no ties, I work full time, I’m reasonably well paid, there’s a global recession, no glaring opportunities back home, few mates back home, my family are back home, my old man’s dead, there are still lots of travel opportunities over here, will be starting again back in Australia. That’s how I sum things up at the moment.

Also as I write, I’m currently trying to get back to Richmond on the rail replacement bus as both the Tube and Silverlink trains are down. They have been all weekend.
