About this site.

About Evan Skuthorpe.

Evan is a senior web designer with 6 years commercial experience. He currently works for an international travel agency with bases in the UK, Australia, the US, Canada and South Africa. He also works on a freelance basis producing work for various other clients.
His previous experience includes working for Harrods and Charles Tyrwhitt.
Evan is also a keen amateur photographer who takes his camera almost everywhere and you can view his photos here. Travel is another of Evan's passions which is evident in his travel photos and on his travel map indicating all the major places he's travelled to.
Qualifications
Evan completed 3 diplomas simultaneously in 2002. These are; a Diploma of Multimedia, a Diploma of Software Development and a Diploma of Network Engineering.
But in the real world, he has 6 years of professional web design experience and 2 years of amateur experience before that.
Web design skill set
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop since version 5.5, Adobe Dreamweaver since version 3 and Adobe Flash since version 4 or there abouts, Evan knows his stuff. He also learned HTML the old fashioned hand coding way. Several years ago he took the step of shedding tables and moved to CSS positioning. These days he's forgotten what a < td > tag is.
Evan's skill set also includes an understanding of usability, SEO best practices and accessibility. He also has a true understanding of what web design is really all about - information communication. And just as importantly, an understanding of what it's not - graphic design, onscreen print material and flashy wizzbang whatsits for-the-sake-of-it.
